As we have done this past year, we will continue to be good stewards of our taxpayers dollars in 2009-10. We have eliminated positions at Central Office, reduced spending on supplies and are seeking ways to reduce energy consumption - just three examples of how we are operating as efficiently as possible in these tough economic times. Our local budget is a bright spot, thanks to the support of our County Commission and you, the citizens. Bottom line:  I take the responsibility of promoting student achievement very seriously and pledge that all of us in Asheville City Schools will strive to sustain our reputation as one of the best public school systems in North Carolina.
