Petition for Diploma

If you were enrolled in a graduating class from 1981 through 2009 and met all State and local board requirements for a diploma EXCEPT for passing the competency test(s) and or computer skills test(s), then you may now petition Asheville City Schools  for a diploma. On July 1, 2009, the General Assembly passed Senate Bill 202/S.L. 2009-451, thus ending the graduation requirements for the North Carolina Competency and Computer Skills Tests. You may contact Linda Johnson 828-350-2520 at Asheville High School or go to the Central Office at 85 Mountain Street in Asheville, NC to initiate the petition process. For more information you can visit:

Click here to open and print Diploma Petition Form. Return completed form to Asheville High School or SILSA as needed.
