Asheville City Schools - School Success program will be celebrating “Graduation Awareness Day’ on Friday, February 5th to send a clear message to our students: Graduate. Students will be asked to sign graduation pledge cards. All AMS teachers have posted information about their school careers on their classroom doors. Several teachers and students have volunteered to create videos to spread “The Message: Graduate” to the entire school body via our Cougar News Program. Many of our staff members will be proudly wearing their favorite college shirt to promote higher education beyond graduation.
Quotes from AMS staff members on graduation from high school:
- “Consistency is the key to success! It is much harder to catch up than to try your best everyday.” – Susan Allman, AVID Coordinator/Math Coach
- “It’s plain and simple: you will almost always have a better, more comfortable life if you graduate from high school than if you don’t. You make more money, you have more opportunities, and you have the satisfaction of accomplishing something that’s really meaningful.” – Brew Davis, 6th grade teacher
- “I come from a large family of dropouts. I graduated from high school, college and graduate school. I fought harder than many to be a success. It was worth the fight.” –Angie Cathcart, Technology Facilitator
Anonymous quote:
"If you drop out of school, you'll have to work twice as hard for half as much." - former high school dropout
