Greta Fletcher, Media Specialist
Greta Fletcher obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History/Secondary Education from Montreat College, a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Western Carolina University, and a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In December 2017, she became a National Board Certified Teacher. Greta began her career as a Secondary Social Studies teacher in McDowell County where she also served as both a secondary and elementary Media Coordinator at McDowell High School, Glenwood Elementary and Old Fort Elementary. She is happy to now be serving the people of Asheville at Asheville Primary School.
As the Media Specialist at Asheville Primary, Greta collaboratively teaches classes with other staff members with a focus on integrating informational skills that include Media/STEM activities in both the Montessori classrooms and the traditional Preschool classes. She serves as the school's DLT (Digital Lead Teacher) and is the co-tech contact for the campus.
Greta's personal mission is to help all individuals develop into ethical, independent, lifelong learners who will share love, knowledge, power and blessings with others. She enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds. Greta relies heavily on her undergraduate and graduate backgrounds in history/social studies education and her natural love of nature and science to help each individual become equipped to access resources needed for a productive life in which they are citizens contributing to the overall well-being of mankind. She wants to see each person with whom she works to develop a strong self-esteem and know that with experience and determination, he/she can achieve success.
Greta and her husband enjoy living in Old Fort where they are often found working on various landscaping projects, enjoying the outdoors, and being active with their families and church community.
