Hello Asheville COUGARS!

My name is Brian Powchak and I am the 7th Grade Assistant Principal. I am excited for the 2023-24 school year as we continue our commitment to Excellence with Equity. This is my fourth year as Assistant Principal at AMS and we have worked so hard to get through the pandemic and out the other side. I look forward to accelerating our learning this school year and making our community proud. I am a UNC Tar Heel graduate and have my Masters degree from Western Carolina University. I strongly believe in the mission of public education and I serve our community with passion and gratitude. My whole family is a part of the ACS Cougar family, as my wife works as an elementary literacy specialist, my son is at Asheville High, and my daughter is a proud AMS and AHS alumni currently attending UNC-Charlotte. I encourage you to be involved with AMS. My door is always open and I am a phone call away. I truly believe we are stronger together and look forward to our partnership. GO COUGARS!
