Kayli Duchan -Instructional Assistant
Hi, I’m Ms. Kayli! I have been with Asheville Primary for three years. I started in an Early Childhood classroom and have been in Lower Elementary since my second year. I graduated from Mars Hill University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and got my North Carolina Teaching License in K-6. I was the first person in my entire family-line to go to college! I tutor for an after school program at Vance Elementary serving third through fifth grade students. I babysit and even proctored at-home learning during the pandemic. On the weekends, I also work at Publix in the Deli.
Teaching has always been my dream ever since the second grade. I had an amazing teacher who completely inspired me. I hope to be that inspiration for my own students. I believe in fostering children's needs academically and developmentally, preparing them for life beyond the classroom. I value the whole-child approach to education and am committed to creating an engaging, respectful environment where every child feels accepted and loved. I want to encourage creativity, build confidence and foster a love of learning so my students can achieve their greatest potentials and become powerful thinkers.
My favorite part of working in a Montessori school is the unique opportunity to work with the same group of children year after year. I have a few students that I taught in Kindergarten who I am now teaching in second grade! In my very limited free-time, I like to explore the beautiful mountains where I live in Hendersonville, cook, and care for my 34 (and counting) house plants.
