In Asheville City Schools, we strive to create a robust learning math environment that promotes and values participation by all students. We believe that through the creation of a classroom culture which supports a growth mindset, risk-taking, and engagement in mathematical discourse, all students can develop mathematical agency, authority, and competency.  Focused on the “mathematical practices” included in the Common Core, our goal is to provide high-quality mathematics instruction, which nurtures the development of perseverance, problem-solving, collaboration, sense-making, and reasoning.
