Asheville High/SILSA

Asheville City Schools is excited about the renovations currently underway on the Asheville High School and School of Inquiry and Life Sciences at Asheville (SILSA) campus. These renovations will result in tremendous improvements to the learning environment for our high school students, educators, and staff. All renovations are scheduled to be completed by spring 2025. 

Renovations scheduled to be completed:

• Critical updates to replace the water and sewer infrastructure
• Campus security upgrades including site fencing and access control gates
• HVAC pipe replacement in the Arts building
• Varsity Gym floor replacement, bleacher replacement, and lighting upgrades
• Main building Auditorium renovations
• Asbestos removal (beginning summer 2024 while students and staff are out of the building)

Auditorium Renovations:

To ensure the best long term viability of our auditorium, there has been a slight delay in completion. Instead of projected completion by late September, October 16th is our updated completion date. We commend both AHS and SILSA staff for planning accordingly.

  • Scaffolding on the catwalk has been reworked, additional walkways have been added to lower walls
  • Catwalk railing has been installed
  • Fifth coat of paint has been added to the ceiling and final coat is on high walls
