Amanda Rigsby, Director of Transportation
Qualifications: NC TSA Trainer, Certified BOTL Human and Sex Trafficking, Certified Instructor National Transportation, School Bus Router Certification
As a native of Western North Carolina, I have proudly called Woodfin, NC, my home for the past 30 years, demonstrating my commitment to this field. This long-standing commitment is reflected in my continuous possession of a CDL since 1983. I am dedicated to using my expertise to enhance the ACS Transportation Department, fostering positive interactions within the community, and ensuring a safe transportation environment for students and staff.
My extensive knowledge of state and local agencies, policies, and safety procedures is a testament to my ability to navigate complex regulations and logistics. This knowledge, coupled with my 30 years of experience in the public school sector and 14 years directly in transportation, has allowed me to support an exceptional operation.

School Bus Dispatcher
The School Bus Dispatcher is the central hub of the transportation operation. A professional, dedicated dispatcher can be the difference between an efficient operation. Dispatchers are the front line of defense and may recognize the signs that a driver might not be in the right condition, either mentally or physically, to be behind the wheel. They can locate students, and help a driver maneuver traffic, weather and many other hazards that a bus driver may potentially encounter on the road. Our goal is to deliver safe and efficient services for the students of Asheville City Schools and the motoring public. We are entering our second year of having a dispatch service and are excited to bring this extra layer of security to our drivers and our students.
