• The Academically-Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Program at Asheville Middle School serves sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students who qualify through the criteria set by Asheville City Schools. Coordinated and taught by Andy Weatherly and Jacob Beach, services focus on differentiation of core content material in Math and/or English/Language Arts, enrichment, social and emotional support, and interest-based learning. Highlights of the program include opportunities to participate in:

    • Battle of the Books
    • Math Counts Club
    • National Junior Honor Society
    • Quiz Bowl
    • Speech and Debate Team
    • The Quill
    • Twelve
    • Edison Pitch Contest
    • Robotics Club
    • Rotating Small Book Groups

    Students also have the opportunity to take virtual classes online via the NC Virtual Public School.
