Ruletta Hughes, Principal

I am Ruletta Hughes, the Principal of Isaac Dickson Elementary School. I am happy to be a part of the IDES community. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our students, staff, and families. My passion is to help people to grow.  I believe that everyone in our school has the capacity for growth. I'm looking forward to being a part of that journey.

I am originally from Edenton, North Carolina.  I did my undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing my undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I moved to Asheville in 1992. I completed my master's degree at East Tennessee State University. I taught music at Isaac Dickson for over fifteen years and served as an Assistant Principal there for three years. I also served as the testing coordinator and Assistant Principal at Asheville Middle School and Principal of Lucy S. Herring Elementary School. I am married to Jerome Hughes and have two sons who work in Charlotte, North Carolina.
