Upon receiving this award, Ms. McDaniels shared her heartfelt gratitude, stating:

“I see serving as a teacher as the highest privilege, and I work hard to make every moment count. In our classrooms, we aren't just teaching subjects—we're shaping futures, building confidence, and opening doors to possibilities our students may never have imagined. Teaching is about inspiring change and igniting a passion for learning in every student. Each day presents a new opportunity to make a difference, and I am grateful for the chance to do so alongside such dedicated colleagues and supportive administrators.

As Nelson Mandela wisely said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I carry these words with me into my classroom every day, believing that what we do matters deeply—not just for today, but for generations to come. This recognition belongs not just to me, but to every student who has taught me to be a better teacher, every parent who has partnered with me, and every colleague who has inspired and supported me along the way. Thank you for this honor. I promise to continue giving my best to our students and our community.”

Since joining Asheville City Schools, Ms. McDaniels has served as lead teacher for both kindergarten and second grade at Ira B. Jones Elementary, and previously at Asheville Primary School. Her professional journey includes roles as an instructional assistant and home-based educator, showcasing her dedication to early childhood education and community engagement.
