Dear Asheville High School Cougar Families,

This is Dr. Dingle, Principal of Asheville High School. I would like to share with you information regarding our ROTC program.

The Marine Corps Junior ROTC has been at Asheville High School since 1975. We are very proud of our ROTC students and their achievements.

Unfortunately, the Marine Corps Junior ROTC Headquarters determined that our ROTC enrollment is below the minimum that is statutorily mandated and has been for consecutive years. ROTC Headquarters, therefore, notified us that our ROTC program must be disestablished in June of this year.

That means, ROTC will not be a part of the 2019-2020 course selections or student experiences at Asheville High School. We understand that this will be disappointing for students who enjoy our ROTC program or who wished to participate in ROTC next year or beyond.
