Asheville High School Celebrates Chinese New Year

On February 5th, a quarter of the world’s population celebrated the Chinese New Year. To mark the occasion, Mrs. Chunna Liang’s Asheville High School Chinese Classes learned how to make dumplings in collaboration with Mrs. Jacqueline Brown’s ProStart students!

In addition to making the traditional dish to celebrate the Year of the Pig, students learned how to use chopsticks and received a brief introduction into Chinese New Year traditions and the meaning behind this important festival.

Indeed, the hands-on lesson was a perfect glimpse into the high school’s high-level, interdisciplinary curriculum.
