Upcoming Dates: November and December

Dear Families,
Whew! The week after Halloween and the time change can be challenging for and demanding on 5 and 6 year-olds (and adults alike), but we've made it! I'm proud of their efforts this week. Thank you for your support with homework, signing and returning report cards, and making sure your child is ready for school each day!
I wanted to give you a heads up, as things start to really get busy this time of year. Here's a bit about what I know so far, and as always, I'll keep you posted on a weekly basis as more details become available:
*Kindergarten Thanksgiving Meal
Monday, November 23, 5:30-6:30
Please reserve this date and time. We hope ALL families can attend! More details will be sent soon.
First two-weeks in December
In collaboration with local artist, Christopher Holt, we have received a grant for our class to learn about Mr. Isaac Dickson and to create a large portrait to be prominently displayed at our new school. This is very exciting! Thanks to the Asheville City Schools Foundation for supporting teachers and funding this type of learning for our students! ( www.acsf.org ) We will keep you informed with more details about this project closer to the time.

*Family/Cultural Traditions

If you are interested in creating a short (15-30 minute) presentation/activity for the class to teach us about a special family and/or cultural holiday tradition during December, please let me know. We will work together to figure out a time!
*Winter Musical Program
December 17 at 5:45 at Asheville High School auditorium
The students have been working hard during music class to prepare a fun, entertaining show for you! If you are interested in helping supervise the event, please contact Ms. Fowler at jennifer.fowler@acsgmail.net
